Create a bootable El Capitan installer on USB
by Volker Weber
After you downloaded El Capitan, and before you install it, you can make a USB thumb drive that lets you install the O/S on other computers without a new download.
Erase a 8 GB thumbdrive in Disk Utility. Choose the GUID partition scheme and format as Mac OS X Extended (Journaled) and name it Untitled. Then run this command (in one line):
sudo /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ El\ Capitan.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/Untitled --applicationpath /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ El\ Capitan.app --nointeraction
Be patient. It is going to take a few minutes to complete. There is a lot of data to be copied to the thumbdrive.

Shouldn't we wait? :-)
Of course you should. I am going first so you don't have to make my mistakes.
FYI, my iMac (2011) and my MacBook Pro (2015) are successfully updated to OS X El Capitan. However, one external device, my Avid Mbox music interface, is no longer working, needs a new driver which isn’t available yet. :-(
Gruss, Ulli
Ulli, that is why I always recommend to wait a week. It gives 3rd parties some time to react. Microsoft is having Outlook issues for instance.
Oliver, absolut.
