Personally, I believe that having pets being good for your health is tied to "laughter is the best medicine." It's hard not to smile or laugh when your pet is doing something silly, or even just curled up in a nap.

Watching our two young dachshunds play together is a real treat.

There is a huge difference. People who agree with you don't always make you happy. And people who don't agree with you, very often do. It's a different dimension. And then there is the occasional happy troll, which I smell from a mile away. See FAQ.
