Reader response: "I think many corporations and all but die-hard MS faithful have already left for Java spaces. My company is one example. We have completely dumped all MS developer products in favor of BEA, Borland and J2EE. Our entire MS application base is now considered a legacy, maintenance-only environment. Within the next month our users won’t even attach directly to the Microsoft ASP environment. All ASP applications will be accessed through a Java Servlet proxy. The proxy allows all our legacy web applications to integrate seamlessly with our new Java web applications. In a way, we’ve turned our legacy ASP environment into a giant HTML-based request/response web service."
