5% of the world's population live in a country that also has 30% of the world's prisoners. With a male population of 138 million and more than 2 million prison inmates, 94% of the them male, one in 73 men is behind bars. 30 million boys are 14 years and younger. If we do not count them, the rate is one in 57. Another dangerous criminal has just been termporarily arrested and "is facing up to 20 years in prison and thousands of dollars in fines".
