ePro: No Client Licenses Needed with New Domino Utility Server

by Volker Weber

When Domino 6 hits the street at the end of this month, companies won’t have to worry about forking out money for client licenses if they buy a new server called the Domino Utility Server and use Web browsers to let employees access applications running on it. Alan Lepofsky, Lotus’s senior offerings manager for messaging, talked about the new server Tuesday morning at an executive conference sponsored by e-Pro Magazine in Vail, Colorado.

Lotus is expected to announce the server in conjunction with other products surrounding the release of Domino 6 this month. The server will let companies deploy Domino for applications, but it can’t be used for e-mail. Domino Utility Server will be priced on a per-CPU basis.
