Lotus Charges Per CPU for Domino 6 Licensing

by Volker Weber

Striving for greater consistency with other IBM software divisions, Lotus has changed its pricing strategy for Domino 6 servers, according to sources. The company will charge customers for Domino 6 licenses based on the number of CPUs. Other software products within the IBM Software Group also charge on a per-CPU basis. Client pricing for Notes 6 is the same as it was for R5.

Lotus will offer three Domino 6 servers:

* Domino Messaging Server for messaging and calendaring: $894 per CPU.
* Domino Enterprise Server for messaging and calendaring, applications, and clustering: $2,308 per CPU.
* Domino Utility Server for applications and clustering (no client access licenses for browsers): $11,750 per CPU.
