Together with today's tidbit regarding discontinuation of RedHat Linux in its present form and support, may it be the time to move to Debian?
Tja, stellt sich die Frage, in welcher Form Suse nach der Übernahme weiter bestehen wird...wenn das mal nicht den ein oder anderen Arbeitsplatz in der "Provinz" Nürnberg kostet.
What happened to Caldera?
Some quotes from the telephone conference yesterday. Please don't take them literally, they're from the top of my head (with a little help from my scratch pad):
"The brand name SuSE will continue to exist ... there will be no major changes in the short term."
"There is very little overlap in staff functions except in some administrative areas."
"SuSE will stay in Nuremberg."
"We hope that Richard (Seibt) will stay with us."
"We will evaluate the product lines and, where neccessary, will keep multiple solutions in the market."
Just found out that Novell has put up a recording of that conference on their website. It can be found at http://www.novell.com/news/press/pressroom/webcast.html (Flash Player required)
I wonder whether they edited out the part where the big guys whispered to themselves, not realizing that this would be sent over the live stream, too. Was kinda funny but right now I'm still too tired to again spend some 45 minutes listening.
