Treo 650 has new connector
by Volker Weber
Today seems to be leak-your-unreleased-palmOne-device-photos day. TreoCentral.com has a long thread with 29 blurry pictures of a pre-release Sprint Treo 650. I can't help but wonder how somebody geeky enough to try a not yet released phone is unable to turn the flashlight of his camera off and then forgets to turn on macro.
So the photos may not be pretty, the unit may not be in the final configuration, but there are a few things that can now be established:
- Bluetooth icon is visible. Nothing indicates a WLAN capability. I doubt that the BT stack is able to connect to a hotspot, but we will see when I have one in my own hands.
- The Treo 650 gets a new connector. It is not like any other palmOne connector, so all of your 600 accessories that connect at the bottom like car kits, travel charges, cradles, sync cables etc. will not work with the new device.
- The battery is removable and can thus be replaced by the user.
- Lots of smaller details like a videocam application, a Tetris game, the new phone screen, new buttons and a different keyboard layout.
Can't wait to get my hands on one.

Shame they didn't get rid of this huge areal. All other phone manufacters seem to be able to make a phone without one...
