Can you illucideate a bit for those of us who make no effort to delve into the specifics of character sets?

If I'm not completely mistaken, charset 1251 would be cyrillic. Given that a lot of spam these days comes from the Russian Federation and given also that Volker doesn't seem to have that many business contacts there, moving all mails with a cyrillic character set to the spam folder sounds like a safe bet to me ;-)

Da! Dos v'danya! Spasibo!

Bob Balaban, 2004-11-19

Still, the spam rule possibly should read "if charset == Windows-1251 then 'move to spam'" so that all programming afficinados properly understand the meaning. As originally given the 'test' will always return 'true'. Otoh, this might be a solution to Bill G.'s spam problem ;-)

1. Old news ;-)

2. Filtering 'Charset="Windows-1251"' doesn't work in Domino because mail rules work on decoded content. You can trap based on the presence of cyrillic characters though - we search for И in subject or body and it stops 99.99% of Russian spam.

3. There are other character sets that can profitably ubdergo the same treatment - koi8-r, Windows-1256 and one or two others spring to mind.
