No, the squares have the same color. The letter A is much lighter than the letter B.

Holly crap you're right!

I used a very complicated pattern of white sticky notes on my monitor to verify it. I had to hide all the other squares and the letters themselves before I saw that both squares are the same colour.

That is a fantastic illusion!

Art Director's Toolkit verifies that the above is true. If you're able to hide everything but those squares, you see it is true as well. Great illusion!
