Bad company

by Volker Weber

The referrer spam got a little bit out of hand. Since 99.9 % are coming in with .info referrers, I was going to block all access when referred to from this TLD:

RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} (.*)\.info/ [NC]
RewriteRule (.*) - [F,L]

No more deals in gambl1ng, ph4rmacy, h0tels, we1ght l0ss, p1lls, v1agra, d1et, lev1tra, tramad0l. Unfortunately I have at least one site on my blog roll that uses the .info TLD.

Lesson to learn: Get the hell out of there. You are in bad company. And: The .biz domain is next.

If you have all those, you picked the worst. I hope you did not buy Telekom at 100. ;-)

I have no shares at all, thank goodness. I prefer to invest in more durable stuff like arts and guitars ;-)

Great. Yesterday I was a proud owner of a newly acquired .biz (It´s a pity all the other domains with my last name are being hogged by the jesuits), today I´m learning that I´m about to be shunned, that´s life...

Seriously: do the .biz, .info etc. have that bad a reputation, so that it might be useful to think about registering an old-fashioned domain instead? I don´t want my future business partners to diss my page just because of the domain.
