AirStumbler

I just came across this program on VersionTracker that I was not aware of. I have used both MacStumbler and iStumbler. AirStumbler rings a sound when it finds an access point (as does Macstumbler) and it will also allow you to join the network it found right from the program (as does iStumbler). It will also allow you to automatically join open networks. This would automate my mail pickup while drive-by surfing. ;-)

3Wlans?

Macstumbler hasn't been updated, but I think on the website the author states he no longer has the motivation to work on it. Still, very feature complete.

Kismac hasn't been updated since april 2004, which is a shame, as it detected more wireless networks than either iStumbler or MacStumbler. Development seemed to have stopped rather suddenly.
I *heard* they were also going to write/re-use an opensource broadcom driver so that we could finally use the airport extreme in monitor mode to capture packets, but that was also in April 2004...

iStumbler is rapidly becoming my favourite wireless detection app.

But nobody seems to have cracked the code for the broadcom chipset...

Updated the picture now to the weekday scan. #6 is normally in client mode but I switched it to access point before leaving for CeBIT.
