Life and Death

400 bullets did not kill her. They killed a hero who had just helped to release her. And you lost another "battle for freedom".

Lots and lots of debates going on here in Italy, because of this story. A real hot issue, both politically and emotionally. There are certainly many "dark sides" on the official reports and I wonder if we will ever learn what "really" happened on the way to Bagdad's airport.

Sad as it is, God knows how many of this "accidents" have already happened and we know near to nothing about it.
Sure I wonder who counted the 400 bullets...

Time for the Americans to leave the country they "liberated" is now long overdue still I can't see this happening very soon..

Volker, so far only a pretty cool reaction on both, this post and my comment.
I found however a interesting editorial in today's New York Time, which is indeed, reflecting my thoughts.
Should you find registering to the NYT a bit of a hassle, you can find copy on my personal web page.

While it is certainly a tragedy that this happened, there are holes in all accounts of the story. We can read about 400 bullets or we can have her initial account that they were shot by a tank. I know that if I were driving down a road and saw a tank or enough men to fire 400 bullets that I would stop. The cynical part of me wants to believe that this communist writer did this to get a bigger story. But that's absurd because we all know that it's only the American forces who are to blame for everything.

Just a perspective from an American.
