I talked to Ray at a dinner while at Lotusphere. He is such an interesting person and very down to earth. I honestly think he can do good things to Microsoft. It is one great opportunity. There had been rumors that Groove Networks might be acquired by either Microsoft or IBM. And frankly, I think Microsoft is the much better fit.

I agree. It will be fun to see what develops.
Yes, Groove fits into MSworld. What could have IBM done with Groove? MS was holding an already significant share, Groove being tied to MS products (Office, Outlook etc), Groove being available only on Windows and the reluctance of the Groove Networks team to open it for other OSes, maybe even the impossibility of being able to do that without rewriting the core of Groove.
Some very interesting thoughts and comments by Mitch Kapor on the Groove acquisition in his blog.
