Microsoft to bring you the finest spyware, part 2

We recently reported that Microsoft was going to acquire Claria, the crooks formerly known as Gator. Here is step number two. Microsoft has just downgraded their anti-spyware software to ignore the Claria spyware.

Not that it makes the story less likely to be a mock-up, but if you're looking for a more "traditional media" type of source...

All this, of course, is the problem when a company tries to audit itself (or its own software). It makes discretionary and biased decisions based on its own best interests.
