Treo on Windows Mobile
by Volker Weber
Engadget has a story with links to three videos, showing a next generation Treo running on Windows Mobile. This looks pretty real. It is going to be a hell of a challenge for Palm to explain this to the market. ;-)

Perhaps it is only a proof of concept and has no further meanings ...
Highly unlikely. A number of carriers have certain demands around customizing the device that appear to be much easier if Palm can reuse the work that has already been done on Windows Mobile. Don't forget that all device manufacturers are dwarfed by the carriers. Outside of the US and UK markets Palm isn't really playing. I have asked the Windows Mobile question many times when talking to Palm management. The better answers were "if the carriers demand it".
If you look at the issues I currently have with the Treo 650, it should be clear that Palm is stretching OS 5.x beyond its limitations.

What a pity.
