Too many options

And too many ways to present options:
Ladies and Gentlemen, this is Office 12 (FrontPage and OneNote). The next release. The one that does not suck. ;-)

I *was* afraid that MS would actually learn lessons from the success of iTunes, iPod, OS/x (Tiger). Design a powerful product but make it simple to use.
I'm glad to see that Microsoft has completely ignored this market lesson, and is rushing headlong into obscurity with another set of monolithic, impossible to use, (probably) creaky and secure "office productivity" products.
Oh - except now, they'll be the cornerstone of the MS collaboration strategy. Excellent. Another 5-million lines of badly written code should increase stability and speed, eh ?

Here we see a good example of a company which has become too big. And where there a rules based upon teams and not upon concept or design.

I was *never* afraid that IBM would learn that lesson. SCNR
Ah, you people just don't know good graphic design when you see it.
Well, maybe that is just a LEAKED (as in: would not make a good impression to the public if released) BETA-version and the contents of that dialog will be changed for the final version? So maybe it's just too early for bashing!
And is the options dialog the right place to judge about the usability of the product?
What is more interessting: Things like "Make IDs unique" look very much like options from the ASP.NET-editor from Visual Studio 2005.
Maybe they need a wizard to help you pick your preferences....
