Not so Mighty Mouse
by Volker Weber
A few months ago, Apple released the Mighty Mouse. Very cleanly designed, it looks like a zero button mouse, where in fact it has four: Left, right, squeeze, scroll ball. I was instantly hooked, and it worked very, very well for me.
Until today. I can no longer scroll down with the scroll ball. I assume, it is just dirty inside, but there is no way I could fix it. Bad mouse, just like that.
Is there any way to open the mouse so that I could remove the dirt?
Update: I was able to squeeze a .35mm PS thread in there and remove some of the dirt. It is now working again. But how do I apply a good flossing from inside? :-)

Similar problem with the original Apple Pro Mouse (lucite). Sealed body prevents replacing/repairing the USB cable when it fails (due to fatigue).
And the yo-yo external power supply for laptops. Cable fails due to fatigue stress, rendering the whole (sealed) unit useless.
Perhaps it would be Sir Ives (instead of CBE) if he went the last few inches in these areas ;-).
Maybe you should wash your hands more often :-)
Danke, Markus. Ja, Du darfst. :-)
same here. Thanks for the link, Markus.
okay, did it. :-# and am using my good old Logitech scrollwheel again. The ringydingythingy is glued on, back where the mousetail exits the casing. Meaning, that in the intent of opening it, and getting the ring out, my impatience and anger with everything productivity-hindering got over my good intentions and made me crack the bl**dy case open. Leaves me with one badly maimed mouse, that all the kings horses and all the kings men couldn´t put together again. Watch it.
Coming to think of it, Logitech builds really good rodents.
I can remember a time when you have to learn to clean your mouse's balls, now I have to learn to floss my mouse? What is this world coming to!
