Ever notice that none of Apple's gear is UL (Underwriters Laboratories Inc.) approved :-)

I like the flickr comments that suggest his cats either peed on the connector, or that it did catch fire somehow and his cats disconnected it when they saw it going up.

getting my book today, I am relieved not to own a cat ;-)

Has happened before.

I have noticed a lack of UL Approval on Apple stuff. And so will your liability / home owners insurance carrier if it burns your neighbors home / business down as well as yours. This would explain the core charge that’s as much as the cost of the power supply for my G4. Seems there was a recall a while ago for a defective design that I missed out on. The defect was a fire issue from the power supply. As for notebooks, beware of the Lithium battery temps. Temps in excess of 125deg/F can result in fire. A shorted battery will overheat and burn your crib down while on the charger. A UL approved battery will have a thermal limiter in it, and an approved charger would quit charging when a short is sensed.

The Flickr-Pics are now censored since the Owner has accepted a replacement from Apple (and their request to remove the pics)...

Samuel Adam, 2006-03-17

Well, he could've gotten a replacement and kept the pictures online. Therefore I'm certain Apple offered a bit more than just a new machine.

Whatever, without the cats in the house, the Macbook Pro ROCKS: dump your 17"es, this aby is PDQ.
