Run Windows on an Intel Mac on top of Mac OS X

by Volker Weber

If you absolutely positively need to run Windows once in a while on an Intel Mac, you could go for the nightmare of a dual boot. Or you may want to run it inside an emulator called Q.

As long as Windows® is not the default operating system of my mac, I'll NEVER EVER try to install it...

In this case you are probably not one of the people who absolutely positively need to run Windows and this post was not meant for you.

Thank you for this. I presently carry my G4 12" Powerbook as my main squeeze, then I also carry a Thinkpad R40 running linux w/VMWare for all the testing, Windows, Windows servers, etc.

I'd love to move this ALL over to a Mac Intel laptop. The tools will come, I know, they will. They will because Vista is such a horrific thing looming on the horizon that we're all going to have to re-evaluate what we're going to do with computing platforms over the next five years.

@ Volker: Trapped. You may move my comment to /dev/null

But it's an emulator, which is sort of ridiculous for an Intel binary. VMware for OS X Intel - once it's there - is going to smoke this ...
