Remove yourself from openBC

by Volker Weber

Somebody asked me this morning how he could remove his profile from openBC. The option is not obvious, but you have to cancel your membership:

Thanks Vowe, I guess if the UI was better I wouldn't have wanted to cancel in the first place.

I thought it was a case of the openHC - "you can check out any time you like, but you can never leave"

Ben, don't forget those Mercedes bends ;-)

Oh, btw... How the heck does one export her contacts? Clicking the export links on the contacts page some dozens time is not an option.

Sascha Carlin, 2006-04-19

@Frank - Sorry, I think that joke was lost in translation.

@Sascha - Sorry, I didn't get that far into the product to know but I'm guessing they won't export in Notes format :OP

I'm fully linkedin now...just seems a lot more professional on there.

Ben, there was no translation, it was from the same song you quoted:

"...Her mind is Tiffany twisted
She's got the Mercedes bends
She's got a lot of pretty, pretty boys
That she calls friends..."

(I'll stick with openBC nonetheless...)

Sascha, I have no idea. And Frank, I agree with you staying on openBC. It's a lot more useful to me than LinkedIn.

Volker Weber, 2006-04-19

@Frank - Sorry, half asleep today.

@Vowe - I think maybe openBC is a German thing, everywhere I looked there was a sun lounger with a towel on it ;O)

Seriously though, I found myself plagued by people I didn't know trying to add me as a contact without even a word of explanation. LinkedIn just feels a little more closed to me. I guess if depends what you're after from the network.

Ben Rose, 2006-04-19

Sascha, this is an unwanted option I guess. Much like "Thou shalt have no other gods before me". You shouldn't want your contacts in any other "god" (errh, tool).

Ragnar Schierholz, 2006-04-19

Ben, openBC could be a German thing if it wasn't for all those snoring binge drinkers around the pool - where do i put my towel now? ;-)

But seriously: I just click 'decline without comment' when people don't bother to even write one line. Apart from that, openBC works like a charm for me. And it gets better every day. But I agree: It depends what you're after from the network. Half the city I live in seems to be in the club (hint hint: openBC is based here...), so of course that's where I'm going to mingle.

Frank Dröge, 2006-04-19

openBC could be a German thing if it wasn't for all those snoring binge drinkers around the poolLMAO! I like that :o)

I am in LinkedIn and openBC. The latter is definitely more “European” than the former I would say. However, I have derived very little value from either—both seem to be ways for recruitment consultants to try and send me CVs... and I already get too many of those!

Damn, I hoped there was a little hack or tool I simply don't know off. Thank you anyway.
