Please welcome a new author on vowe.net

by Volker Weber

Nick Shelness has asked me today whether I would entertain occasional posts by him on this site. Boy, am I feeling honored.

nick

Nick is an independent technology consultant, and previously was the CTO of Lotus, and a Lotus and IBM Fellow. Nick is one of the very few people in this industry I could immediately relate to. I interviewed him a few times, but we really got to know each other seven years ago during Lotus Devcon in San Francisco. Nick lives with his wife and two dogs in Meigle, Scotland. Both Ute and I have visited him there. It has always been a wonderful experience.

BTW: vowe.net has quite a long list of authors, although I am the one who does most of the postings. You may remember some excellent postings from Bruce, Cem, Esther or Ken recently. But the list is actually much longer: Bruce Elgort, Cem Basman, Esther Schindler, John Keys, Ken Porter, Markus Nolte, Oliver Tunnat, Ragnar Schierholz, Stefan Rubner, Ulli Müller.

I suspect many of them don't even know their password anymore. :-)

Looking forward to seeing your posts on this site Nick. Will like to see your take on the ND8 client and future technologies

Vowe, by the cadence Ragnar updates his very own blog you can feel honored he still posts here. =)

@ Ragnar: :-P

Maybe he forgot that password as well. :-)

Volker Weber, 2007-05-30

Welcome to the site Nick. If you ever forget your password, there is a password recovery feature somewhere in the site. I've used it before. :-)

First things first: Nick, welcome to the club. Boy, am I feeling honored to be named in this list!!!

@All: Well, it's less about obliviousness but rather about time constraints that I post less frequently than I used to. You know, there's a "Forgot my password" link on many of those log-in pages. But I have a full-time job now in an industry that is fairly (to say the least) new to me, so there's a lot of catching up to do. But so far I have not officially decommissioned my blog and I still have the bookmarklet to post to vowe.net active (and know my credentials).

Nick,

Welcome to vowe.net Nick. I look forward to reading your posts.

BTW - I still have my password :-)

Bruce Elgort, 2007-05-30

Wow! Volker - how do you get all these smart people contributing to your web site ?

I went to see Nick a year or so ago - he lives about 20 miles south of me, but it took several years to pluck up the courage. I dont know why I was scared - he's one of the nicest guys around.

As well as having a brain the size of the universe, of course..!
