From the rumor mill

CHICAGO, Aug 30 (Reuters) - Research in Motion Ltd shares rose more than 3 percent on Thursday on renewed market speculation that Microsoft Corp could be interested in buying the BlackBerry maker.
Microsoft buying Java talent? Unlikely. I know it has been suggested to IBM for years to buy RIM. They did not bite.

It wouldn't surprise me at all. RIM could pretty much be a fairly independent Business Unit. I also wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft BES 2008 wouldn't support Domino anymore. Hey Steve, how's that for an idea? Exchange would still suck, but it would have support for Blackberry.

Oops, just checked RIM's market cap. Maybe $46.2B would be a little pricy to pull a fun stunt like that.
