iPhone battery perfomance

by Volker Weber

Like the mileage you get out of fast cars, it all depends on usage patterns. I charge the iPhone every single night. And every other day I top it off in the afternoon.

On the other hand, the only smartphones that did not need a recharge every night have been the BlackBerrys and the E61i.

And the E90...do you charge it every evening ? :-)

I don't

I do not charge the E90 every night either... more like every two days... or less...

obviously it depends on usage, but I use it quite often to type my stuff and play around with Google Maps.

I charged every smartphone I ever owned every night. The same with the iPhone. Usually in the evening I have 80% battery charge left. That's better than most smartphones. I have Bluetooth and Wifi switched on all day.

my SE 950i has to be charged every 30h, the e61i is much stronger and needs 60h to run out of battery.

I recharge my iPhone every 2 or 3 nights (don't need to sync everyday). However, in the first month when the "oh my new toy"-feeling was still there I had to charge it everyday, too ;-)

I recently switched to an HTC Touch and have found that I can go two days without a charge, which is making me very happy. My previous phone was a Palm 700w and that barely made it through the day without a charge.

And here I was thinking you treated yourself to an iPhone. ;-)

I have turned down the brightness on my iPhone to about 45% and I can get two days of battery life out of it.

Bruce Elgort, 2007-12-08

I don't have an iphone, but the ipod touch gets great battery life. I use it while traveling, walking between clients, reading my rss feeds on the iphone newsgator page when at starbucks or an airplane lounge ... and I get about 3 full days of use. That includes watching video.

For the size of the device, I think Apple did a great job on battery life. We just need something with more than 16 gigs of space :-)
