"V12 Diesel - who would have thought?"

Petrolheads I guess :-)

We had it coming with those annoying Diesel LeMans Prototypes and didn't they announce a Q7 with that engine a while back?

One of Jeremy Clarkson's favourite cars (much to his own surprise) - at least the petrol version was! Did a head-to-head with Richard's top of the line Porsche last year.

Nick Daisley, 2008-01-14

Ja, ja, and please don't mention the "german cement salesmen" ;-)

Hajo Schmitt, 2008-01-14

Richard's Porsche (Carrera S with RWD) is by no means top of the line. But certainly the most genuine Porsche. Top of the line is a GT2 or maybe a GT3 RS. The perfect match for an R8 is a GT3. All three of them are ugly as hell.

Pah.

My dad had a V12 diesel in 1982....

It was a 500 brake horse power Kelvin Hughes, and pushed 84 feet and 100 tonnes of fishing boat through the water at 15 knots - about 3 knots faster than the fishery patrol boats of its time..

Oh. In a car ? God. Think of the exhaust fumes as it comes away from the lights..!

I don't know about the V12, but it sure looks like a huge FluxCapacitor under the rear hatch !

Glen Salmon, 2008-01-14

Right Glen, I was already looking for Dr. Brown in the background somewhere ;-)

@Volker

The Porsche GT3 was driven by the Top Gear folks last year, too, when they were driving that one and a Lambo and a funny James May car through France, Italy, Switzerland etc - superb episode, and guess who was driving the Porsche. TopGear is just brillant, there is nothing better than it, last season was the best ever actually I think. You can only get them as P2P though I think.

If you point your sat to Astra 2 (28.2 E), you can get it on your TV.
