VMware Launches ThinApp 4.0

VMware, Inc. (NYSE:VMW), ... today announced the upcoming availability of VMware ThinApp 4, an application virtualization solution that lets customers run multiple versions of virtually any application on any Windows operating system without conflict. For example, users can run both Internet Explorer 6 and Internet Explorer 7 on the same operating system without disruption.

Ah....
The VM-washed version of THInstall. I used that in my previous life for application development. It is pretty impressive: I packs all DLLs and stuff into a single executable. Your app sees a single file system where the native DLLs and components are overlayed by the additional stuff in that exe. So no more install and such required. It also takes care of Registry and stuff.

Pretty scary too (unless they removed the feature). They got anti-debugging features, so you really don't know what the app is doing inside.
