a really uninspired and unoriginal design... thumbs down for lotus. its a shame. could have been a spectacular successor.

I think it's quite nice - but then, there hasn't really been a truly original and radical design in automotive engineering since about 1968, to my mind.

Lots of good developments underneath the bodyshell (thank goodness) but lots of old ideas being recycled on the surface.

it looks way too much as a tesla. even if you argue that the tesla looks like a lotus. they knew. :-)
and you are completely right nick!

The Tesla is based on the Elise chassis and was developed with the help of Lotus Engineering.

Sieht so aus wie der legendäre Lancia Stratos. Hat Lotus das nötig?

Stephan Perthes, 2008-07-23

Finally a Lotus product that's actually being shown in the marketing material :-)

Ragnar Schierholz, 2008-07-23

Looks like some kind of Elise crossed with a Noble M12.

Not massively original, but not ugly either.

Ben Rose, 2008-07-23

@volker well thats the chassis but not the body.

the bodies front is very like a tesla. the cockpit dome straight from a nissan skyline gtr ( the new one) and the back is just there.

there are so many different cars that share the same chassis, but it doesn't mean they have to look alike, or?

As an aero-space engineer friend of mine says; "wen five companies throw a lump of clay into a wind tunnel and turn the dial to 150mph, the results all look the same."

Glen Salmon, 2008-07-25

@glen, and yet some look less the same than others.
