iPod nano 4G - one week later
by Volker Weber
I have been using the new nano for a week now. A few observations:
- Everybody who has seen it likes it better than the 3G. Yes, I carried both.
- I'd really like to switch off the motion sensor. Have already done so for "shake to shuffle".
- If you use the iPhone headset, you get access to Voice Memos*. Might be interesting as an unobtrusive recording device. :-)
The motion sensor is good for watching photos as you turn the iPod to watch landscape instead of portrait. Which is necessary. The 3G had a landscape display, and most content — all videos and most photos — is landscape. But I don't like it at all as a switcher to go into cover flow. I often use the iPod when resting and then it is a nuisance. "Skake to shuffle" also does not work for me, since it fires off way to easily just when walking around. Luckily you can turn this feature off, but not the cover flow trigger.
*) Voice Memos also work on a large number of other iPods. Check the link.
