Ultimate Ears Super.fi 5 Pro - nine months later

Super.fi 5 Pro

Last Xmas Lukas gave me a pair of Ultimate Ears, and I would not want to be without them. I am currently travelling a lot by railroad. Yesterday I was sitting one row behind eight middle-aged ladies, all of them talking at the same time. And I was not bothered at all. Complete isolation.

And in contrast to those iPod earphones, the music comes with bass.

I'd love to try them but the price is pretty steep for "just a pair of in-ear-phones".

Nobody pays sticker price. And like any other sound producing solution, it's the speakers that make the difference.

Volker, had you by any chance an opportunity to compare them to some Shure in-ear-phones like the e3c (or the new SE 310 or 420)? And does the sound insulation stay the same over the time, or does it get worse?

Dirk Steins, 2008-09-28

No, I have not. You just don't share in-ear-phones. I am pretty sure they are very good as well. Even the cheapest in-ear is better than a regular one. And if they have two drivers, you get a lot more bass.

The isolation works the same over time. Should the gels ever wear out, you just buy new ones.

Volker,

how do you keep them in your ears? I tried with mine for months over hours and hours with no luck.

60 Euros thrown out of the window...

Any yes, when they are in place correctly they sound brilliant.
