Updates from vowe's Apple zoo
by Volker Weber
- Updated the iPhone to 2.2. This required an overhaul with Pwnage 2.2, since Apple once again locked up the phone and would not "activate" it. This is so annoying - repeat after me ... I could have foregone the update, but wanted it for one simple reason: being able to switch off the auto-correction, which most of the time did anything but correct stuff.
- The Apple TV works like a charm. I was a bit grumpy when I had to add all kinds of stuff to make it useful, especially since it did not recognize the USB stick at first - not all of them work. But now it's a joy to use.
- The Macbook needs another battery. Looks like I can get between 12 and 18 months out of a battery until it loses so much capacity that it becomes useless. That would be 139€. Ouch.

auto-correction works much better now for me - bad timing of the on/off-switch...
Look for a LMP battery for the macbook. It's about 115 Euros. I've one in my macbook. The orginal said goodbye after two years. And the orginal battery is way overpriced.
If it were for Apple only, you wouldn't have to activate anything. It's the long leash of the TelCos that blows the experience - Steve would never put up with that if he hadn't to.
You really should give the auto correction a second chance. At least for German it has been noticeable improved.
Check here for a new battery, I have a friend who ordered one for her ibook and it works fine. I plan to get it here after my MBP one finally goes, I'm on my 3rd battery all replaced by apple for free, however I don't think they will replace it anymore.

I agree with Lukas and Michael. Auto correction is much better now. At least for German german - don't know about Swiss german. But it's nice to be able to turn it off.
also updated to 2.2 from 1.14. And now my bought Music from the iTunes Store is lost. On my Netbook i see my Music but i can not transfer it to my updated iPhone.
Try the volume on your Sonos controller...
iPhone 2.2 firmware:
There is a new iPod Controls option under the Home Button Settings screen. When activated and Passcode Lock is enabled, you can control your iPod app by double clicking the home button without unlocking your iPhone. Cool if you want people to change songs but not access anything else on your iPhone.
@Ben,
My volume control on the Sonos stopped working. I don't if it was after the 2.2 upgrade or not.
@Bruce - I knew 2.2 caused it, I was highlighting the issue.
