TomTom Routes available in most European countries
by Volker Weber
TomTom Maps is now available in most European countries, with HD Traffic in France, Germany, Great Britain, the Netherlands and Switzerland. Other countries like Austria, Belgium, Italy, Spain, and Sweden, where HD Traffic is not available, have TomTom Plus traffic information instead. A quick glance at Deutsche Bahn reveals though, that I would be much faster taking the train.

I remember way back when they were a jack of all trades software company.
I remember the old website - http://www.palmtop.nl but not the full old company name. (Palmtop Technologies?)
They always had the best mapping products for Europe for the Psion and a few other handheld platforms.
Everyone in the U.S. wanted them to get have the same level of performance here. They certainly do now. I have yet to hear a seriously bad word about TomTom.
Looks nice for instant short trips you plan (e.g. the commute home). Otherwise, if you plan ahead longer or have a long trip, the current traffic info doesn't really give you much as it will likely change by the time you go/reach certain critical areas. But from TomTom's point of view, it's certainly a good teaser :-)
