My favorite feature missing from the iPhone

As I go back and forth between Android, BlackBerry and iPhone, there is one feature I am missing from the iPhone, and that is the backtrack button. On Android it lets you go back to where you have been before. Follow an http link from Google Talk to a browser, and then just go back.

Some applications on the iPhone have a backtrack button. But that only works in the application. As soon as you switch to a different app, the old one dies and you can't go back.

Funny, I asked myself some minutes ago if that function exists on the iPhone. I opened vowe.net from your tweet on my iPhone and want to go back to the last read tweets... You are right, this function would be really great!

This might sounds stupid, but did you also realize that there is a task switcher (recent activities) available when you long press on the home button?

I am asking, because the long press is fairly undiscoverable.

I just thought about that because Thomas' sample was linear (works with the back button), but could have been non-linear (works with the task switcher).

Yes, I did. Actually within the first couple of minutes. I always try a long press on every button.
