Never mind the baby, I am going to make you another one ...

by Volker Weber

Every time I see parents who struggle to have one or two kids, I have to think of Michael and his family. I remember when we discussed cars a few years back, and I learned he had a car with eight seats so he could take his family to church on Sundays.

Six kids - holy moly. I jokingly said, his car should be large enough since he had enough children now, and he was very serious about having more. We shared some fun moments, like myself on one end of a video call, and him surrounded by more faces than the camera was able to show. Now it's a few years later, and his wife is expecting another child, their ninth, four days overdue.

If all goes well, that makes a soccer team. One captain, one goalie, and nine more players. Good luck, Katrina and Michael. Go Sampsons go.

Thanks Volker ... and the vehicle now has 12 seats, which means there will only be one spare! Next up ... will have to be an 18 seat Nissan Caravan ... or a stretched Hummer!

Wow!

Hmm, our first baby is 13 days away... I am really looking forward to our baby girl, but still I am really wondering how she will change my life as I have virtually no clue. I guess it's one of those things one can not know in advance, one has to experience it.

Ask me in a year how I am doing with one baby. =) Don't know how I could possibly handle nine of them - big respect to the Sampsons! Good luck. =)

Congratulations Philipp ... what exciting days you have coming up! All our best ... M.

Philipp, she *will* change your life in every way imaginable. You are unlikely to view anything in the same way again once you have the perspective that comes with being a parent.

There will be trials and tribulations, but the joy is immeasurable, believe me.

Enjoy the calm before the storm, but rest assured there will always be the odd port in which to shelter..:)

@Michael - congratulations! You must be made of stern stuff and/or have a yogic approach to family life :)
