Mobile DJ

How come I never heard of this although it's already two years on the market? The Pacemaker is a mobile DJ device. It can mix music from two sources with beat matching, it lets you cue up tracks via headphones and delivers the mix through a line out. It has an internal hard drive for your tracks and it connects via USB to a PC or Mac.

There is also a free desktop app for Windows and Mac which lets you pre-arrange mixes with sound effects and upload the mix to the device. You can also export a mix as .OGG which means it is even useful without a device.

I use a Pacemaker since a few months and I like it a lot. As I'm teaching tap dance it's a great device to prepare all the music for a class in advance. And if a song is too fast for the students you can even slow down the track... for me it's the iPod Pro :)

Its even nicer if you team it up with a Radio Kit, and send the output back from the Pacemaker, back to the mixer, therefore you can DJ all through the venue and dance floor.. Hard to Find Record of the UK Sell such a kit here .. http://www.htfr.com/more-info/MR263550 ..

The DJ press seem to like this device, but I'm still not sure I'd class it a professional instrument.. yet..!!

bought one a year ago when a journalist from switzerland wrote about it (http://dasmagazin.ch/index.php/party-im-sack/) I HAD to Have one. and am playing with it ever since. only the PC app alone was worth it. and yes, u can actually use it professionally. or at least to rock the house.

Funny thing is, the PC app is actually free. So that's a good start.

How long is this thing running on battery?

Volker Weber, 2009-08-26

I still only use vinyl.

long enough for a set or lets say half a night. but the loader is quite small and if u have a sound system there will be power anyway :-)
if u use it as a player only it will last a full day.
