Palm Pre shipping in a month from O2 Germany

According to webos-blog.de there are several incidents of O2 salespeople telling customers that the Pre will be available on October 13 in Germany*. I have no hard information on that day whatsoever, but I find it very credible. I have asked but the (predictable) answer was "no comment".
So it's time for an Alex warning. Don't buy a smartphone within the next four weeks. I have played with the Pre in February and I have been extremely impressed. By the time it ships I will be able to tell you exactly how I feel about it. Not before that day, I am sorry.
There is another reason I would suggest you wait for the Pre. I am currently very pleased with O2. They don't lock you into a contract, there is no monthly fee for the contract, they are not bullshitting you with contracts that won't allow tethering, or VoIP, or Skype or whatever. They don't block UDP ports. It's just the internet in your pocket.
*) The other date being thrown around is October 30. For several reasons that date makes less sense. Apple has been releasing new products on Tuesdays for a while. The 30th is a Friday. Both dates sound very similar when spoken so that may be confusing people. In any case, the Pre is coming very soon. ;-)

Nein, keine. Meine Erwartung ist, dass es in Anschaffung und Betrieb günstiger als ein iPhone ist.
I'm hoping that IBM will support it with Traveler in a future release because I want one ;-)
Volker scheint ja schon eines zu haben und es zu testen. Nur reden darf er noch nicht darüber. Omerta halt. Mich würde nur interessieren ob er das Teil im Büro oder in der Küche verwendet. Ich erinnere mich da an ein Video mit dem Pre und Tomaten (oder war es eine Gurke?)...

No, the name does not impress me, but I'd be curious as to your comparison with the Pre, when you do get a chance to look at it.
I know it's a Sprint(US) only now, but it's supposed to go to AT&T 'soon', and and that would make that flavor a UTMS device.
Now if only Palm would include a microSD/SDHC slot!

Why would Palm care about Apple's habit of releasing products on Tuesdays when releasing their product? It may be a generally good idea, but just because Apple does it?
Argh. Mal sehen, ob ich noch in den 14 Tagen bin (bewusst per Fernabsatz gekauft: Samsung i8910 HD - jaja, Spielzeug, auch...).
