You're not that far away from a car. It's an entry to a competition financed by Volkswagen in Sweden.

And you are pointing it: Volkswagen builds robust, clean engineered cars with a maximum of usability. But they are boring ... the last "fun car" they introduced was the New Beetle and this idea is now already 10 years old.
Gerade im Strassenverkehr ist das eine sinnvolle Erkenntnis. Es gibt schon sehr lange Studien und Versuche, dass sich gefährliche Kurven sicherer gestalten lassen, indem man sie einfach so gestaltet, dass es Spass macht, sie zu fahren (optisch enger z.B.). Das gleiche gilt für Spielstrassen und Autobahnen. Wenn es Freude macht, fahren die Leute gern langsamer und aufmerksamer.
