10 meter links davor geht's in die bmi-lounge. die ist noch besser beschildert und im letzten eck des flughafens platziert als das gate 5. hervorragende planung.

Ich tippe auf Frankfurt. Wir sind zuletzt aus San Francisco kommend ca. 40 Minuten lang durch Tunnels, Sicherheitsschleusen und lange Gänge gelaufen (ohne Schlenker oder Irrwege), bis wir den Anschlußflieger nach München erreicht hatten. Komisch nur, daß es am selben Flughafen auch anders geht: beim Hinflug brauchten wir gerade mal 10 Minuten ...

Gate 5 is one of the A380 gates, they put the new double decker gates with multiple jetways around the terminal wherever there was clearance to take an A380.

Hence the strange numbering. Its quite recent.

Terminal 1 at Heathrow had a similar strange numbering system at one point although it may have changed since (not used Heathrow for a while). As I recall it was on the way to the Glasgow / Aberdeen / Edinburgh flight gates.

Andy, indeed there is 5a and 5b. The area in front of the gate does not look as if it could hold all passengers for a 380, and it is also quite difficult to get there.

Volker, the business class lounges are above, and they have jetways leading straight onto the A380 upper deck. So the gate area you saw is only for the lower deck.

Yep.. looks like it fails the intelligence test, but that's not the only way Airlines can foil your attempts to board aircraft.

One time I was in Schipol and were about to board at gate 10 or something like that, then they decided at the last minute to move the aircraft to gate 70 on the other side of Schipol. Thanks KLM!
