Things are not looking well for Palm
by Volker Weber
From an internal memo:
As we mentioned in our press release, our softer than expected performance is due to slower than expected customer adoption of our products, which in turn has prompted our U.S. carrier partners to put additional orders on hold for the time being.
Read: carriers have unsold inventory. It does not really matter how many carriers you sign up if customers are not buying.

That's not really a surprise, is it...?
I really can't see a compelling reason to buy a Pre, either.
It's one of the few devices that rival the iphone. But the battery power is draining to slow and the hardware could be more powerful.
software is really nice but the hardware sucks, feels like cheap, quick & dirty peace of plastic.
i have used my pre for about a week, now it's not in use for several months....
Pre still not available in Holland. Android was, so Android it became. (HTC Hero)
@marten,
I'd love having it...
Is it just me or do the comments on the original article sound a bit like the comments we see every time Notes and Exchange go head to head? :-)
It is a shame that Palm are in the situation they are in. I have (and still use occasionally) a Palm PDA and I had a Treo that I bought (couldn't get it on contract from Vodafone) from ebay until I signed up with Apple 18 months ago. I waited and waited for Palm to bring out something that I could upgrade to but got tired of waiting and went for an iPhone. I'm still hoping they manage to get themselves sorted out before Apple and Android bury them forever.
No, you are not the only one. :-)
Scoble thinks it is the small screen.
Well, if they would've been out a year before, this story would probably look very different.
Very sad.
Having said that, the people who bought a Pre still got a great device that is likely head and shoulders above the phone they used before ... and it only takes one or two years and you will get a new phone anyway.
Oh and here is a nice fantasy. The Web OS developers should join the Android developer team. And to top if all of Nokia is making their splendid hardware available with Android on it.
No, I am not on drugs.
