Nokia announces three new messaging devices: C3, C6 and E5

NokiaC3C6E5

Nokia is trying to win this based on price (in Germany, including taxes, before subsidiaries): C3 120€ (2Q10), C6 290€ (2Q10), E5 239€ (3Q10). Interesing: the launch site mentions prices even lower, before taxes and subsidiaries: 90, 220, 180.

Alle devices have free Ovi maps navigation, access to social media and messaging, qwerty keyboards, the C6 sports a touchscreen. The software is old skool: S40 on C3, S60 V 5 on C6, S60 V 3.2 on the E5.

Irgendwie muss man ja der Corby-Welle entgegenwirken.

So are the C6 and E5 quasi successors of the N97 and E75 respectively?

Ragnar Schierholz, 2010-04-13

The E5 will be more likely the successor of the E71 / E72.

Ingo Spichal, 2010-04-13

I'd rather want to see a Meego/Maemo device with decent battery life.

Hanno Zulla, 2010-04-13

how about the Nokia C5?

Samuel Orsenne, 2010-04-13

Betriebssystemverzettelung.

@Ingo:

@Roland:

The E71 hardware appears attractive, but at least in my case the on/off key on the top of the phone was always very difficult to get to work. A couple of weeks ago it finally stopped working all together - the rubber surface disappeared completely into the body of the phone.

I must say that I was impressed with amazon.de's customer service - I sent the phone back (it was about 12 months old) and made a guarrantee claim - they repaired it with no discussion or hassles within 3 days and refunded my postage! I really didn't expect that.

However in the mean time I have decided I really don't like the S60 OS, for example, having to find "exit" in the menu of each application - which often means scrolling to get to it - to kill it. I have decided to relegate the E71 to being a "reserve" phone and have switched to an Android phone (Samsung i5700), which for 250 Euro (also from Amazon) is hard to beat, pricewise.
