Will somebody being able to make tidy interfaces like this one ever be able to make successful software like IBM does?

Klaus Burdenski, 2010-05-16

This would be Google. Are you suggesting Google is less successful in building software than IBM? Or are you suggesting that software has to be less tidy to be successful? Please explain.

Hmmm When I click the url on my htc hero it gives the error "The requested item coud not be found" - strange

You click on your PC. And then you point the Android barcode reader at the picture you see. You do have Barcode Reader installed?

Volker Weber, 2010-05-16

I pointed my barcode reader at the pic and it loaded a url on my htc - but when I then clicked on that url on my htc - that's when I got the error

Chris Coates, 2010-05-16

Sorry, Chris. The app is 2.0 and up. The market may be hiding it from you.

Volker Weber, 2010-05-16

To answer your question, probably not. But that doesn't mean that Ben and Company won't.

Gregg Eldred, 2010-05-17

Ah that explains it Volker - Yet one more app that I'll have to wait for until the firmware upgrade for my hero is available.

Chris Coates, 2010-05-17

I'm not really sure what is holding them back. People have always said that it's HTC Sense that needs to be ported to the Android version, but HTC has a the Legend, which is very similar to the Hero, running on 2.1 with Sense. Maybe we learn something new tomorrow and the day after that during Google I/O 2010.

On one hand it is good that folks like Ben and Company create year after year a database to use for the community. Shows the strength of the community.

But I would think IBM Lotus would Know how important it is to have something like this in their own name, pay Ben some $ and make it the official IBM Lotus app/download/DB for the Lotusphere. Maybe sell sponsorship ads for it too while they are at it...
