And still no sign of an update for the "unbranded branded" Vodafone build, seems I have to unlock my nexus this weekend.

Same here, don't want to wait another 2 weeks to get a perhaps crippled Froyo for my "unbranded" Vodafone N1 (bought without contract). Lessons learned: Don't buy a phone from a provider :-(
Calm down boys, mine only just updated this morning (to FRF91). I bought it directly from Google, so the whole process of rolling it out worldwide takes a few days (as they said).
Must say though, process was absolutely painless. It came up with the message that the upgrade was ready to install, I pressed OK and may be 5-10 minutes (didn't watch the clock, so not sure) it was done. Haven't found any problems at all so far.
I did the up grade that passed without amendments.
I am passing this address to my colleagues here in Brazil.
My NexusOne is working perfectly.
