Kiwis read Planet Lotus only for the interviews

Lotus knows bloggers

It's really simple to have one bad idea after the other. Don't worry about them. Humans are very good at skimming though topics and picking the ones they like. After a while you will find authors you like, and then simply follow them. Chris Toohey is a good example of somebody focussing on Xpages development. I always liked Jake Howlett for exploring new things. His site was the first good looking Domino website, way before people called it "blogging". If you want to know what the world looks like through the eyes of somebody who has to sell Notes, of course you read Ed Brill. And if you want to know about the daily life of a Domino guy who reads five books a day, you read Duffbert. Life is great if you actually met all these people. They generally like each other, in a way that is hard to understand from behind a glass screen thousands of miles away.

If you have some crazy ass ideas on how to sell a product on behalf of IBM, I suggest you read how it's done.

Well said Volker..

Absolutely spot on! Well said sir.

Frank Docherty, 2010-07-15

Excellent!

Whether you have met them or not, agree with them or not or even work with the same technologies, the four authors you mention resonate because they are just that - Authors who clearly take pride in creating true content of lasting value. Their content will reach audiences through feed subscriptions and search engines for months and years to come, instead of simply being noise generated to get noticed for a few hours on a commercial feed aggregation site, one that is probably only visited regularly by the other vanity bloggers.

Apologies if I have again missed the point of your post. Social experiment or not, I still think a punch in the face is a decent remedy for stupid :)

I couldn't help noticing.

Steady on Volker. This Kiwi has a :(

Colin Williams, 2010-07-15

I won't be losing any sleep.

@vowe: Thank you for the link to Team OS/2. I was very much surprised, and happy, to see Esther's name associated with it. I wouldn't have discovered that little fact if one aggregator only showed "Lotus posts."

Thank you for your insight. Again.

Gregg Eldred, 2010-07-15

Esther was the queen of OS/2, and our love goes back to that time. :-)

Volker Weber, 2010-07-15

@Gregg

This would obviously have been on topic as a "Lotus Post" so there is no doubt that it is related.

@Volker The team OS/2 stuff is really valuable and I am grateful that you have taken the time to bring this up. There are many great ideas on that page, a lot of which may still be relevant.

This is the kind of stuff, which if other members of the community can bring to the surface, will help everyone.

I'm with Colin on this, it does seem a touch harsh to chuck all of us from NZ into the same bucket, based on (what I assume is) Vaughans blog. Most of us are far more abrasive.

And it's not only the interviews, most of the time I read PL to avoid working.

Keep up the excellent work

Peter Smith, 2010-07-16

Peter, volker is telling that planet lotus sees many clicks when ever Vaughan posts blogs. He was hot blogger many days on PL.

He is saying that like that.
