Lotus Notes Connector for Microsoft Online Meetings

by Volker Weber

This project, created by Microsoft, contains two modified IBM Lotus Notes® mail templates (7.X and 8.5) which can schedule Microsoft Online Meetings (of Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2 or the Live Meeting service) via the Notes scheduling User Interface using a REST service. The REST service along with all code and install set-up instructions are included.

Hopefully, this marks a change in Microsoft that will result in better interoperability.

Although frankly, I'd rather they'd started by offering to store chat history in something other than Outlook.

Arranging meetings is nice, but if you have the OCS client and Notes (or any non-Outlook messaging client) then you never get to keep a chat history - not even as text files. Not what I'd call good design...

I am no expert in this. But I know a few customers who have Notes (and Outlook) with OCS. So integration between Notes and OCS is welcome.

Co-existence solutions are an important part of any migration offering. Migration off Notes/Domino to a total Microsoft solution doesn't happen over night, but it does happen.

I wonder what signature is on those modified templates :)

Ben Rose, 2010-08-25

@ben - you can go look.
Most of the sigs are the original Lotus Dev ones (very little of the NTFs was touched).

The rest have signatures from the people who did the work.
