Ovi Maps 3.06

I am going to use Ovi Maps 3.06 beta today. If all goes wrong, I still have a TomTom as backup. ;-)

Update: this worked really well. So what do we have? Best phone camera. Excellent navigation software with turn-by-turn instructions. Very good phone, as in "use as a phone". Software still needs work.

Good luck! It works nicely on my N8, but I cannot load the newest version of the maps for Thailand with 3.06beta. On my friend's version 3.04 the newest maps are accepted. Strange...

Good luck as well :)
Wolfgang, this is really strange. Are you using the OVI-Suite to load maps?

Hubert Stettner, 2010-10-28

Worked like a charm. Another incentive to travel with an N8.

@Hubert: I quote an email I got from Nokia:

This is true for Thailand and a number of other places at the moment. This is because although the 3.06 Map data has better functionality (like public transport lines - in selected countries) the detail is not quite complete yet. We are working on this and we hope to have it ready soon.
As you live in Thailand, 3.06 does not really help you so I would recommend that you go back to 3.04 so you can have the better coverage map.

And yes - I used the newest version of Ovi-Suite to update the maps. But I am very pleased by the quick reply from the Ovi-Maps Team :-)

Sorry, missed the nicest sentence:

"Once again, I apologies for this but if you wish to go back to 3.04 for your N8, please let me know and I will send you the file."

I let them know and now I am waiting for the sis.

Thanks, Wolfgang! Was not aware of that, lesson learned :)

Volker, how did it work out with OVI Maps 3.06 beta?

Hubert Stettner, 2010-10-29

Following up the issue. I got another email (with attachment) this afternoon (14:13 GMT+7).

Remember that any map data you have downloaded for 3.06 will not be compatible and therefore will be deleted on installation.
If for whatever reason the installation fails or Ovi Maps fails to start after installing 3.04 then delete the "Cities" folder from your mass memory. Please only do this if something goes wrong :-)
Either way, let me know how you get along.
Regards,

Ovi Maps team

I will install 3.04 tomorrow and see how it is doing. Will keep you updated.

I love the reaction speed the mappers :-)

Bingo! Alles gut gegangen.

OK. I just updated my OVI Maps to version 3.06 on my Nokia N8 and it looks like there is nothing the Maps can search. As in I get "No Results found offline" I wanna use it in offline mode and I stay in Malaysia. Is there any way to rectify this problem and if there isn't, how do I revert to the previous version? Please help.
