Wow! It is a bit harsh to block the whole network. Wouldn't a better captcha be more effective and require less work on your side?
I agree: vowe.net actually is better than an expensive bartending school. So what is the problem?
Necip, the simple captcha keeps the robots out that would flood the site. But you can still pay people to enter spam manually. I learned, if there is one spammer in a network, there are a lot more. I am locking out those networks since I am not interested in them. Large parts of Eastern Europe, Pakistan, India, the Philippines and China are gone already.
Thanks, Konstantin.
Just remove the network - you are doing the right thing. Don't screw up the experience by using an unreadeable captcha. Pleeeease.
Hmm, VSNL (Now TATA Communications)... I remember that name form a few years ago when I was fighting spam more actively...
VSNL was pretty unresposnisve to spam complaint, and was widely blocked. A quick search for TATA Communications in relevant abuse newsgroups return a number of hits. Seems like they still like their spammers money, instead of doing the right thing and keeping spammers out of their networks.
They deserve to be blocked.
Too bad blocking one /17 is not doing much of anything, as the AS17908 that prefix is in has a lot more, and with dynamic IPs the next IP might come through again. Everything behind AS4755 (Tata India) is big... and they must not have heard of aggregation.
