These are not your enemies

Lotusphere is due in 11 days, and I sense a bit of nervousness around the "Ask the product managers" session. Greg pulled a pretty good joke from the Dilbert archives, Steve has a bullshit bingo card, and Peter wants to guide people.

This reminds me of a story I read five years ago on the Guardian. Let me show you the money quote:

Phil gave me some great advice: "Those 6,000 Mac fans out there in the hall aren't against you, they're the best friends you can have."

That's it. The people in the audience are not your enemies. There is no need to be defensive. And while we are at it, you are looking for enemies in all the wrong places.
