Can I just wag my Genuine Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate DVD in front of the Netbook camera, please? Do you know how many editions of Mac OS X there are?

Just one edition is enough! I didn't get the marketing thing with many editions... Sounds like a pusher behavior for me :-)
It's really weird. I enter my key, it validates against Microsoft, I accept the license terms, it starts the upgrade and then, after a couple of minutes it fails.
'Windows 7 Ultimate Anytime' kannte ich noch gar nicht. Vielleicht liegt es (habe gerade nochmal nachgeschlagen) an der 'Anytime'-Version: 'anytime' kann 'jederzeit' aber auch 'irgendwann' bedeuten…
Ultimate ist die Version. Anytime Upgrade heißt, man muss nicht neu installieren, sondern nur einen Key eingeben.
Auf einem Netbook? Ts Ts Ts...
Das Upgrade war bei Windows schon immer irgendwie schwierig.
Meist liegt es an einer Anwendung die damit nicht kompatibel ist oder so.
Da du doch immer schreibst, nur 4 Programme auf dem Netbook zu haben, installier es doch einfach neu.
Danach c't updater drüberlaufen lassen und fast alles geht von selbst.
c't Updater. Gute Idee. Neu installieren: nein. Ich habe keine Lust auf die Treiber-Orgie.
Also Win 7 Enterprise lies sich ohne Probleme auf einem MacBook Pro installieren. Lieber gleich die richtige Version nehmen :-).
War ja schon eins drauf. Jetzt soll es nur noch schöner werden.

Schöner wird's nur dann, wenn Windows durch Mac OS X ersetzt wird.
Auch Windows 7 Ultimate bleibt ein schnödes Windows.
"and then, after a couple of minutes it fails." Lucky you. I spent a couple of HOURS installing Windows before it decided to reject my valid key. (There was no opportunity to do anything else. No Microsoft phone number to call. I was simply shut out.) Since then I've made it a mission to gradually remove Microsoft products from my life. I haven't quite removed them entirely (it's hard to go cold turkey), but I'm getting close to complete elimination.
Repeat after me: DRM is bad for the customer. :-)
i wonder if they like dvd's are regionalized
