Odd PlayBook screens

BlackBerry PlayBook

I like the PlayBook UI. Flicking from the touch sensitive border lets you switch apps and bring up the menu very easily. It gives you great control over which apps are running. As you can see in screen above, there are still some glitches like disappearing icons, but those should eventually be ironed out.

Switching from landscape to portrait also does not work perfectly yet. Lots of apps only work in landscape, which is the preferred way to hold the device anyway.

Landscape is good for watching movies and reading web pages, but it requires quite a bit of scrolling. If you switch this around to portrait, you get a very long window that isn't really readable:

Like other widescreen devices, the PlayBook feels odd when held in portrait mode. Maybe that's why Apple chose 4:3 for the iPad?

What I am not happy with is UI consistency across apps. PlayBook developers will need guidance from RIM to get this right.

Another odd screen. Who can explain this error?
