A clear message

This camera sends a clear message: "my owner wants a Leica, but can't afford one".

Which is nothing to be ashamed of.

There ist nothing bad in not beeing able to afford a Leica. Even if you can afford one, there are only a few reasons to actually buy one.

A Leica is not a great camera. It's a good one, but especially the newer ones aren't better than some cheaper point and shoots.

However, you can get a Leica repaired in Somalia or India. That is the advantage they really offer. A world wide web of repair stations. Any other camera: Not a chance.

Compared to a Leica X1, the X100 ist a bit cheaper, yes. But much better. Nice Cam, would like to have one too.

Roland Dressler, 2011-06-21

It tries to look like an original M3 rangefinder, not like a X1.

Volker Weber, 2011-06-21

Na und? So was hier kann sich ja kein normaler Mensch leisten.

Unfortunately, my Pana GF1 sends a similar message. Especially since Panasonic is releasing another Leica marked lens next to the macro they already have. This ups the retail price but the lens still stays a Panasonic.

But while I'd like one of the Leica rangefinders with some summicrons it won't really happen so I have to point at some mild satire to tide me over :))

Thomas, der kann das.

Volker Weber, 2011-06-21

Stimmt.
