Swapped the old disk back into the ReadyNAS

The disk that failed in the ReadyNAS Pro passed all tests with flying colors and SMART+ has logged no errors. My dealer offered to send it to Seagate, but advised they would probably just return it, because it shows no sign of failure.

Yesterday I picked the disk up and put it back in the RAID. Let's hope this was a once off problem.

I have a similar Problem with my readynas duo. One disc is getting more damaged Sectors every night and should be replaced but using the seagate Smart tools no errors are Found....

There is a firmware update available for this series. As this is quite unusual for Seagate there must be some bigger problem (Seagate normally only provides firmware updates through contacting customer support). The link is.

The dealer tried to upgrade the firmware (or so he said) but it would not install. I have no hardware to do it myself.

Just tried the firmware update on more ST32000542AS with the bootCD. CC32->CC35 succeeded, CC34->CC35 rejected.

That's the problem. Mine are on CC34 as well.
